we've been away from civilization for 3 weeks but it embraces us again quickly, like the muezzin's call to prayer that makes its way slowly through the crack in our hotel window.

reflecting on time past, on time spent together on the real possibility that we had cabin fever, but also that we were just three human beings living in close quarters to each other with no other choice than to show ourselves to each other. fully.

the pictures are from a day we decided to go exploring just before the sun set.

the tide was unusually low for that time of day. it allowed us to take pictures of the rocks to which sea abalones clung - harmless bounty for poachers who could access our corner of heaven from a service lane not far away.

we didn't make it very far before the moist cold reached our bones. on our brisk walk back (because the arriving darkness scared us), we made shadow shapes with our bodies. we called them "snow angels for when you ain't got snow."

that day was nice. that day was special.
